Assistant Regional Director Co-Op:

Zero Gravity Basketball is a youth basketball event operator based out of Wilmington, MA and is the market leader of grassroots events throughout the Northeast, having expanding to new markets in the South, South East, Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, Capital District, and West Coast in the past few years. Zero Gravity plans and manages basketball tournaments, leagues, prep school showcases, clinics and camps for children and young adults to expand their academics through athletic participation. Zero Gravity has many established partnerships including Adidas, Gatorade, and the Jr. NBA.

Job Description

The Zero Gravity Assistant Regional Director Co-Op is a paid position that runs from January/February through July and is based out of our corporate office in Wilmington, MA and a housing stipend is available for qualifying co-ops who may need to relocate. The Assistant Regional Director Co-Op will work under the guidance of the Regional Director and Regional Coordinators to plan and implement events and tournaments on a weekly basis.

Duties Include:

  • Securing and confirming facilities for Zero Gravity events in your region
  • Assist in hiring part-time event staff on a weekly basis and training them in various capacities (Ticket Sales, Scorekeeping, Site Directing, etc.)
  • Registering and collecting payments from our vast customer base on a weekly basis
  • Confirming teams’ and programs’ tournament schedules on a weekly basis
  • Assisting with venue/facility setup and breakdown each week
  • Acting as a Site Director at Zero Gravity events and tournaments each weekend throughout our Spring Season
  • Drive revenue growth through building/maintaining strong customer relationships
  • Working with sponsors and executing sponsorship activation
  • Promotion of the Zero Gravity brand and sponsors through a variety of social media outlets

Desired Characteristics:

  • Major in Sport Management, Business, Marketing, or a related field
  • Desire to be an industry leader in sports management
  • Ability to work in an extremely demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organization and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Prior event management experience

Operations Co-Op:

Position Overview

Zero Gravity Basketball is seeking a motivated and dependable, sports-minded individual that is committed to being groomed into an operations expert who would make an excellent candidate to join a Division 1 basketball staff if desired. From January/February through July this individual will go through a paid, career-growth oriented, training program geared toward preparing the individual to become an asset to any sports organization. Operations co-ops will be responsible for inventory management and event management/operations while being mentored by the Director of Operations. A housing stipend is available for qualified co-ops that may need to relocate.

Position Overview

  • Inventory management at the Zero Gravity Office and Storage Facility which includes but is not limited to: maintaining, organizing, packing & shipping tournament supplies
  • Perform pro-active assessments of inventory and placing orders with Director of Operations as necessary to replenish supplies
  • Manages the physical set up of events with the goal of creating a professional tournament atmosphere
  • Responsible for event clean-up & transportation of supplies back to the storage facility
  • Assists in weekend tournaments operations including tournament and site directing
  • Attend weekly staff meetings and other duties as assigned by Managers
  • Assist in the staffing and Human Resources of part time workers at tournaments
  • Assisting in the planning, communication, and execution of tournament logistics

Position Overview

  • Recent graduate or current student of a 4-year college/university who has or is working towards a degree in Sport Management or a related field
  • Desire to work for a Division I Basketball Program
  • Drive, ambition and motivation for success with an outstanding work ethic
  • Planning and organizing, can prioritize work activities; uses time efficiently
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Able to adapt to change and improvise in situations
  • Ability to work extended hours including nights and weekends
