Program Profile - Tri State Swarm

Today we got to catch up with Mike and Colin with The Swarm. The Tri-State Swarm will be participating in our fall circuit and have been a staple on the Tri-State Circuit.

When did your program start?

Our Swarm Program started in 2008.

How big was it when it was first established? What's the biggest difference from your program now, to 5 years ago?

The Swarm Program started out in 1 location and then over the last 5 years we have grown to be the largest program in the country with 400 teams nationally.

Where is the program based out of?

Central Massachusetts

What is your favorite memory with your program?

This is my first year with the program and am looking forward to building great memories and friendships that will start in the Fall of 2020.

What is the hardest part about having your own program?

The hardest part of having my own program is making sure the players are maximizing their practice and game experience. We want our players to get the most out of every season and we feel that playing in Zero Gravity events will help us attain this goal.

What do you think your program excels in?

Our Program excels in communication. We are thorough when it comes to making sure every parent, player, and coach are on the same page at all times.

How can you elevate your program to the next level?

The way we can elevate our program to the next level is to continue to bring in players that fit in with our Swarm Family values and our mission statement. Our Program will continue to grow as long as people, players, coaches, parents, staff are put in the right position to be successful.

What separates you from other programs?

Swarm is the largest program in the country and we have built this from having great people in our organization and great coaches in charge of player development. Player Development is critical for all of our teams and we pride ourselves in giving players all of the tools they need to be successful.

Where do you see your program in 2 years?

I see our Program as a Nationwide Brand. The goal for us would be to continue to provide our services at a high level in our current locations but also grow and expand the Swarm Brand into even more states.

What, in your opinion, is the biggest factor to your program's growth/success?

The biggest factor to the success and growth of our program will be to maximize every opportunity. Whether this is helping players in the classroom, at practice, in the game, or a community service project our goal will be to take full advantage of every opportunity that is in front of us. Life is very short and you need to take advantage of every opportunity!

What would you say is your program's mission statement?

Swarm Basketball is committed to helping our student-athletes become the best version of themselves on and off the court. Our goal is to teach young athletes respect for themselves, others, and their community by instilling the values of honesty, responsibility, and teamwork. We strive to create a safe, exciting, and disciplined setting in which our athletes can reach new heights in the game of basketball while becoming good citizens and role models for their schools, peers, and community.

What is your favorite ZG tournament?
My Favorite ZG Tournament is the Battle For The Belt. This tournament concludes the season and is always a great, competitive event.

What's been your proudest moment as Director?
My proudest moment as a Director is every season seeing the growth of our players from individuals to becoming a team.

What role model do you have your players look up to?

Someone I have had my players look up to is Tim Duncan. This is a player who played the game the right way, was a team player, and a champion. Now a Coach in the NBA, this is someone every player can aspire to become.

What are you looking forward to most about the Fall 2020 ZG season?

We are mostly looking forward to just getting the players back on the court as it has been a stressful time for many in the last 6 months and basketball is a way to take your mind off of any negatives in life.

What impact has your program had in your local community?

Our Delaware Swarm Program will be helping out in our community in 2020. More to come on this!

What is your favorite aspect of being a program director?

The best part about being a Program Director is seeing the growth of our Student Athletes from Day 1 until the end of the Season. There is so much time for improvement both on and off the court and I love being able to see how we made an impact in each of our student athlete's lives.

What has been the biggest challenge for you during the COVID-19?

Our biggest challenge has been not being able to interact with our players and parents in person. With that being said, we were still able to virtually provide all of the excellent services we offer.
